Lenka originally qualified as an accountant in her birthplace the Czech Republic, before qualifying as an osteopath in 2005 at the British School of Osteopathy in London. This is the largest and oldest Osteopathic College in the UK, widely respected throughout the world.
Lenka is registered with the General Osteopathic Council that regulates the practice of osteopathy in the United Kingdom and is a member of the British Osteopathic Association (BOA), the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) as well as The Northern Counties Society of Osteopaths (NCSO).
Since 2010 Lenka also became a part of the teaching team on the Masters Degree course in Osteopathy at Leeds Metropolitan University. She had a role as a technique tutor and clinic tutor responsible for final year students and has played a part in the redevelopment of the course.
Lenka is currently took part in the voluntary Revalidation Pilot Scheme that is proposed for the future assessment of practising osteopaths. Revalidation is a process by which osteopaths will have to demonstrate that they are up to date and fit to practise, and meet the relevant professional standards. She also takes part in the CPD (Continuing Professional Development) process that helps to manage her osteopathic and medical development on an on-going basis.
As part of her CPD training Lenka has attended a course in ‘Western Medical Acupuncture’ which she uses as part of her treatment where appropriate. She has a personal interest in yoga and Pilates and attended a ‘Pilates for Practitioners’ course. This helps her to devise individually tailored exercises both for rehabilitation and the prevention of further problems. Another very useful course that she attended is ‘Treatment & Exercise in the Childbearing Year’ which helps with treatment of some of the common conditions related to pregnancy. She also regularly attends seminars run by local spinal and orthopaedic consultants.
In her spare time, Lenka is a keen cyclist but also enjoys rock-climbing and mountain walking. She also has a passion for gardening and worked as a volunteer at RHS Harlow Carr botanical gardens.
